The world is changing fast, and it’s not just about new roads or taller skylines. Women are stepping up in powerful ways across every sector, including travel planning. Today, they’re leading how families pick destinations, set budgets, and shape the whole travel experience. Thrillophilia’s Women & Travel Decisions 2025 report highlights this shift perfectly. Scroll down for all the details.
Thrillophilia has released its Women & Travel Decisions 2025 report based on 212,000 itineraries and 8.9 million planning signals, and the results show something unexpected. Women now shape or fully design 72% of India’s leisure trips. They handle everything — planning, budgeting, safety checks, and picking the best experiences. They also compare way more options and lock in plans earlier than men. On average, women book nine days in advance, which means no price shocks, smoother schedules, and 18% fewer last-minute cancellations.
When it comes to researching while planning the best trip, women are unbeatable. They do everything from reading reviews and checking photos to sending itineraries to the family group for approval. Why? This extra prep means fewer mix-ups and way smoother holidays. However, though women plan almost everything on couple trips, 62% of the payments still end up being made by men.

Smart Luxury: Women’s Top Choice
According to Thrillophilia’s data, women prefer smart luxury while travelling. For their trip, they prioritise comfort without unnecessary extravagance. Their preferences include boutique stays, spa sessions, wellness walks, and relaxed mornings. Women add 28% more premium touches to their trip compared to men. And well, the surprising part is that even with those premium plans, women’s expenses on a trip are almost the same as men, with just barely noticeable 6% difference. What does this mean? Women are not spending more, they are simply spending wisely.
Women love domestic destinations, with Rajasthan, Kerala, and Goa topping their list. For international plans, they pick places that mix luxury and affordability like Bali, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
