Good news for wildlife lovers! Uttarakhand is all set to get its first white tigers at Dehradun Zoo. The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) recently approved the transfer of these majestic big cats from zoos in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. And yes, the zoo may soon get a wildlife safari for visitors too.
Uttarakhand To Get Its First White Tigers At Dehradun Zoo
The rare white tigers will soon roam Dehradun Zoo! According to The New Indian Express, these big cats will be brought from Gwalior Zoo in Madhya Pradesh and Nandankanan Zoological Park in Odisha. They will be displayed in Uttarakhand for the very first time!
Officials have reportedly started preparations to bring a nearly two-year-old white male tiger from Gwalior. Under the exchange, a normal-coloured tiger will be given to Gwalior Zoo from Dehradun Zoo. Since these will be the first white tigers in the state, their arrival has got many wildlife enthusiasts excited. Plus, they are also expected to become a major attraction for tourists in Dehradun. Another male white tiger will also arrive from Odisha in exchange for Himalayan Gorals from Dehradun Zoo and a pair of Red Pandas from Nainital.

Wildlife Safari Also Planned For Visitors
White tigers are not just beautiful, but they are extremely rare. They are Bengal tigers, but they are white in colour because of a recessive genetic trait. Their arrival in Dehradun will help boost conservation education and make people more aware of them.
Here’s the more exciting news. According to Garhwal Post, Dehradun Zoo is also planning to introduce a zoo safari for visitors. This would provide wildlife lovers with an opportunity to observe wildlife more closely and in a more natural setting.
And not just white tigers, the zoo is also planning to bring other species, including wolves, foxes and jackals, in the future. This move aims to broaden the range of animals available for visitors to see and strengthen the zoo’s role in education and awareness.
