Skyscanner’s latest Smarter Summer Report paints a telling picture: 96% of Indians are planning the same or more trips than last year, driven by a “maximiser mindset” that mixes smart spending with rich experiences. However, almost half haven’t booked yet! The culprit, 38%, can’t decide where to go.

The data has spoken, and Skyscanner has distilled the mood of the moment into five destinations, each trending, each wallet-friendly, and each offering its own long-weekend magic.

Goa, Bengaluru, Kochi And These Places Top The List

In August, Goa ditches the clichés. The monsoon works its magic here, draping the coast and countryside in deep green, lush forests. The beaches turn panoramic under moody skies, while treks to hidden waterfalls and hours in Assagao’s boho cafés become the highlight reel. Better still, it’s off-season, meaning the prices are friendlier than the weather. Delhi–Goa starts at ₹12,765, Mumbai–Goa is from ₹9,285, and Bengaluru–Goa from ₹7,921.

Bengaluru is also topping the list of Independence Day getaways with its subtle magic and frequent action. One morning, it’s filter coffee in Indiranagar, the next it’s elbow-deep in Chickpet’s vintage markets, and by golden hour, you’re at a rooftop brewery with the city laid out beneath you. And that’s Bangalore for you! Time it right, and August’s breezes do the rest. Delhi–Bengaluru fares start at ₹10,777, Mumbai–Bengaluru from ₹7,986.

Fort Kochi’s gallery-lined streets, ferries gliding over backwaters, and family-run heritage homestays serving dishes that are comfort-imbibed, it’s the definition of slow travel with substance. Delhi–Kochi starts at ₹15,221, Mumbai–Kochi at ₹12,653, and Bengaluru–Kochi at ₹7,580.

Port Blair And Leh Also Make It To The List

Port Blair is your passport-free ticket to island life. The Andamans deliver Bali-blue waters, palm-shaded beach cafés, and Havelock Island’s coral-rich snorkelling spots. It’s no wonder 66% of Gen Z travellers now chase quieter destinations. Delhi–Port Blair starts at ₹15,869, Mumbai–Port Blair from ₹14,399, and Bengaluru–Port Blair from ₹13,757.

Leh feels like another planet altogether and is the perfect choice for Independence Day getaways. Pangong Lake’s impossible blues, the pull of Magnetic Hill, Khardung La’s winding ascent, and Nubra Valley’s surreal sand dunes all make the air thinner in more ways than one. Between snow-capped peaks and ancient monasteries, time seems to stand still. Delhi–Leh starts at ₹19,869, Mumbai–Leh from ₹26,036, and Bengaluru–Leh from ₹28,521.
