Your Favourite Coffee Order Can Reveal Your Next Dream Holiday Destination; Here’s How

Nobody really orders coffee by accident! The person standing in line asking for an espresso is rarely looking for the same holiday as the friend ordering a caramel frappé the size of a flower vase. Somewhere between caffeine habits and travel dreams, there is a strange overlap. So before you start scrolling flight deals and sending “Should we go?” messages to your group chat, take a look at your usual coffee order. It might have a few opinions about your next passport stamp. So here’s your ultimate blueprint to a perfect coffee order based vacation.

From Espresso To Frappé: The Perfect Coffee Order-Based Vacation

1. Espresso: Rome, Italy

Espresso drinkers do not have much patience for unnecessary extras. They would rather spend three hours exploring a fascinating neighbourhood than thirty minutes taking photos of something everybody else has already photographed.

That mindset hails from Rome and offers the perfect coffee-order-based vacation! This is a city where an ordinary walk can turn into an archaeological discovery. You step out looking for lunch and suddenly find yourself standing in front of a 2,000-year-old monument.

One moment you’re squeezing through a narrow alley in Trastevere lined with ivy-covered buildings, the next you’re staring at the dome of the Pantheon wondering how it was built nearly two millennia ago. Long lunches featuring carbonara made the traditional Roman way, evening aperitivos in Piazza Navona, and tiny coffee bars where locals knock back espresso in under a minute all feel like pieces of the same story.

2. Iced Latte: Bali, Indonesia

The iced latte crowd tends to travel with a loose plan and an optimistic belief that the best experiences happen when things go (very) off-script.

Bali hails that approach! A day might begin with coffee overlooking rice terraces in Ubud, continue with an unexpected detour to a hidden waterfall surrounded by jungle, and end with a sunset at Uluwatu where the Indian Ocean crashes against towering cliffs. Canggu offers surf breaks, hotels, beach clubs, and cafés that seem made for lurking.

3. Cappuccino: Paris, France

A cappuccino is proof that classics become classics for a reason.

And guess what, Paris is the king of classics! Yes, the Eiffel Tower is beautiful. Yes, the croissants deserve the hype. But the city’s real charm appears in smaller moments. It is finding yourself inside a tiny bookstore on the Left Bank or watching the sun hit the buildings of Montmartre in the late afternoon. It is wandering through Le Marais and stumbling across galleries, vintage stores, and bakeries that somehow smell even better than the last one.

Here are some experiences you can enjoy: a jazz performance in a hidden courtyard, a picnic beside the Seine, or an unexpectedly perfect meal in a neighbourhood café.

4. Cold Brew: Iceland

Some travellers want room service, while others want to stand next to a volcano. Cold brew drinkers usually belong to the latter category.

Iceland feels almost designed by God for people who collect experiences instead of souvenirs. The road between destinations is often as spectacular as the destination itself. Black-sand beaches look like they belong on another planet, while glaciers stretch across the horizon like frozen continents.

A drive along the South Coast might include Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind a waterfall, Reynisfjara’s dramatic basalt columns, and icebergs floating through Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.

5. Flat White: Melbourne, Australia

If you’ve ever corrected someone on the difference between a latte and a flat white, Melbourne is waiting for you.

The city has made an international reputation around coffee, but reducing Melbourne to café culture would be unfair. This is a place where hidden laneways contain world-class street art, independent bookstores sit beside experimental galleries, and live music spills out of venues most tourists never find.

Start in Fitzroy, move through Carlton, lose yourself among the murals of Hosier Lane, then spend an evening eating your way through the city’s multicultural food scene.

6. Mocha: Switzerland

Some people choose holidays based on adventure, but wait, mocha drinkers often choose them based on how magical they will feel!

Switzerland understands the assignment. The journey from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch looks like it was storyboarded by a filmmaker determined to create the perfect alpine fantasy. It has wooden chalets sitting beneath towering peaks and lakes glowing in shades of blue.

In Lauterbrunnen, waterfalls plunge from cliffs hundreds of metres high, while nearby Grindelwald offers mountain views that make even seasoned travellers pause mid-sentence. What else? There are historic train routes, Swiss chocolate shops, lakeside promenades, and cosy mountain restaurants serving fondue!

7. Pour-Over: Kyoto, Japan

Pour-over coffee takes time, which is why Kyoto may be your dream destination!

The pleasure here is in wandering slowly! Swift through Arashiyama before the crowds arrive and listen to the bamboo groves creak in the wind. Follow thousands of vermilion torii gates at Fushimi Inari or spend an afternoon inside a traditional tea house where every movement has meaning.

8. Caramel Frappé: Dubai, UAE

Caramel frappé drinkers are not interested in doing things halfway. That’s why their coffee-based vacation is in Dubai!

Dubai shares that philosophy, and we love it! The city seems to operate on a permanent challenge to make everything bigger, taller, faster, or more extravagant than before. One day might include breakfast overlooking the skyline from the Burj Khalifa, an afternoon spent exploring the vast Dubai Mall, and sunset dune bashing through the Arabian Desert.

The Al Fahidi Historical District preserves traces of old Dubai, traditional abras still cross Dubai Creek, and spice markets continue trading much as they have for decades.

Then again, if you’re reading this while holding your usual cup and suddenly searching flights to one of these places, perhaps it knows you better than you think. Your coffee-order-based vacation may be closer than you think!
