The Goa government has now banned firecrackers, fireworks, sparklers and pyrotechnics across all hotels, pubs, nightclubs and restaurants after the deadly fire tragedy. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to prevent anything similar from happening again. Here’s what we know so far.

Goa Fire Tragedy Sparks Statewide Ban On Firecrackers

The fire tragedy at Birch by Romeo Lane in Goa sent shockwaves across the country. The deadly incident killed 25 people and left many injured. The fire broke out due to electronic fireworks, something that is quite commonly used in many nightclubs. According to a report by India TV News, the state government on Wednesday announced a complete ban on not just electronic fireworks but all similar activities. The order states that firecrackers, electronic fireworks, sparklers and pyrotechnics are now banned in restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, pubs and clubs.

Apart from that, no fire-based games or fire-led performances will be allowed. The government has taken this decision to prevent such tragedies from happening again. Authorities are also conducting stricter fire-safety checks in nightclubs across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru and Mumbai ahead of Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
