Air India Flight From Mumbai To Newark Returns Mid-Air Due To Technical Issue

Air travel is one of the fastest modes of transport to travel from one place to another. However, travel plans can get disrupted sometimes due to technical issues causing delays, cancellations, or even forcing flights to return mid-air. One such incident happened on Wednesday, when an Air India flight from Mumbai to USA’s Newark had to return to the Mumbai Airport mid-air due to a suspected technical problem. On Wednesday, Air India’s flight operating from Mumbai to Newark returned to Mumbai mid-air because of a suspected technical problem. Flight AI191 took off from Mumbai at around 1:15 am on Wednesday. However, just a few hours into the journey, the crew decided to make a precautionary return. The flight safely landed back in Mumbai at 5:30 am, nearly three hours after departure, reported India Today. 

According to an Air India spokesperson, the decision to turn back was made as a precautionary measure after the crew noticed a technical issue. As per the India Today report, the aircraft is now undergoing thorough inspections to ensure it is safe for upcoming flights

More About This Incident

The airline also confirmed that due to this incident, both AI191 and AI144, which were scheduled to operate from Newark to Mumbai, were cancelled. Passengers affected by the cancellations in Mumbai were provided with hotel accommodations. As for travelling, they have been rebooked on alternative Air India flights, as well as flights with other airlines, to reach their destinations. 

This is not the first time Air India has faced technical issues. An Air India flight from Milan to Delhi was also cancelled on October 17. It left hundreds of passengers stranded just days before Diwali, adding to travel woes during the busy festive season.
