Mass IndiGo Flight Cancellations Trigger Chaos Across Airports
IndiGo is in a terrible state right now.
Flights getting cancelled one after another, chaos at the gates, passengers arguing with crew, zero communication. My own flight has been delayed with no clarity, we’ve been at the airport for 2 hours just waiting for any update.

The massive air travel disruption across airports began after new crew regulations by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) came into effect. What is the new change? These new rules are focused on reducing pilot fatigue and improving passenger safety, limiting night flights, extending rest periods, and capping maximum flight duty hours. Compared to previous schedules, restrictions on crew working hours have led to roster challenges, contributing to multiple flight cancellations.
According to NDTV, IndiGo cancelled more than 300 flights in the last 48 hours, causing major disruptions at key airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune. As per India Today, Delhi and Mumbai were the worst-affected airports, with 95 and 85 cancellations, respectively. Bengaluru saw around 73 flights cancelled, Hyderabad had 68, Pune 16, Ahmedabad 5, and Kolkata 4.
Another city stuck in the chaos of Indigo’s roaster issue is Chandigarh. At Chandigarh’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, 14 out of 15 IndiGo flights scheduled for December 4 were delayed. The Chandigarh-Mumbai flight, set to leave at 5:20 AM, departed at 8:05 AM. A flight to Chennai, originally scheduled for 7:20 AM, was pushed to 3:55 PM. Flights to Leh and Ahmedabad, planned for 11:45 AM and 12:05 PM, had not departed by 3:30 PM, causing long waits for passengers.

Medina-Hyderabad Flight Diverted To Ahmedabad
Amid all the delay and cancellation chaos, IndiGo made headlines for another reason. The airline’s Medina to Hyderabad flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad after receiving a bomb threat email. Hindustan Times reported that authorities safely evacuated the passengers and found no suspicious items after conducting a thorough security check.
The wave of IndiGo flight cancellations has also disrupted operations for other airlines, including Air India, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air. With IndiGo aircraft occupying airport bays for extended hours, other flights faced delays and scheduling challenges. Passengers said that they were kept waiting for hours for little information. To bring the operations back to normal, IndiGo is working around the clock and expects normalisation within the next 48 hours.
We hope the situation gets under control soon!
