We often find ourselves wondering what our favourite stars eat. Are their meals always straight out of a Michelin-starred restaurant, or do they also enjoy simple comfort food like dal chawal? Well, it turns out celebrities are more relatable than we think! Recently, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor sat down to a wholesome meal of pithla bhakri, curated by celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, and here’s how it went down.
Inside Alia Bhatt & Kareena Kapoor’s Lunch With Rujuta Diwekar
Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the drool-worthy pithla bhakri lunch she enjoyed with Kareena Kapoor, prepared by nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar. She shared a picture of her meal with the caption, “The most wholesome, soul-some lunch, courtesy Rujuta Diwekar.” And one look at her plate and we can totally understand her emotion.
The picture shows a ghee-slathered bhakri served with pithla, green chilli thecha, pickles, a fresh salad, and buttermilk on the side. Rujuta also thanked Alia and wrote on Instagram, “Your ability to enjoy the simple joys of life is your super power.” A heartwarming note to go with an equally wholesome meal.

The Comfort Of Pithla Bhakri
We understand why Alia Bhatt loved the wholesome meal of pithla bhakri so much, and also why a renowned nutritionist like Rujuta Diwekar would prepare it in the first place! The rustic charm and quick-cooking nature of this Maharashtrian staple make it not just a go-to comfort meal for many, but also a nutritious choice.
Pithla comes together in no time by cooking besan into a thick, savoury porridge, tempered with mustard seeds, garlic, onions, green chillies, and, of course, curry leaves. For the bhakri, you can choose from jowar, bajra, or rice flour to make a wholesome, gluten-free flatbread. It pairs perfectly with the soft yet slightly textured curry. Add some thecha, raw onions, pickles, and a glass of buttermilk to your plate— and you have an easy, quick, and delicious meal ready to enjoy.
So, are you making some pithla bhakri at home today?
