Andhra Pradesh Plans To Restore Siddheswara Swamy Temple In Nellore
According to a report by The Hindu, the Andhra Pradesh government has now initiated steps to revive the 10th-century Siddheswara Swamy Temple in the Krishnapatnam Port area in Nellore district. The development of the ancient site will be done while preserving its heritage status.
Several officials representing the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana recently visited the temple. They reviewed the structure’s condition and scope for restoration.
You would be interested to know that the Kamakshi Devi Sametha Siddheswara Temple was originally built by the later Cholas in the 10th century. The temple was further developed by the Telugu Cholas. It not only holds historical value but also has mythological significance. Officials will work on the restoration without disturbing its original architectural and sculptural heritage.

Temple To Return To Its Past Glory
According to The Hans India, the temple will soon return to its past glory and is expected to attract visitors from across the country. The reconstruction and restoration process will help protect the temple’s legacy while making it accessible to devotees in its original beauty. According to The Hindu, Krishnapatnam Port was known as Gandagopalapatnam Port thousands of years ago. It was named after Gandagopala Tirukaalaatthi Deva, the father of King Manumasiddhi.
The ancient temple located near the port once had a large garden called Desanayakan. This is the place where 18 local chieftains used to meet and discuss political strategies. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva (Siddheswara Swamy) and his consort, Goddess Kamakshi.
