According to The Free Press Journal, one unique tradition in Pune is dressing the Sarasbaug Cha Raja, the temple’s main Ganesh idol, in warm woollen clothes during winter. As the cold breeze sweeps across the city, devotees notice Bappa wrapped in cosy sweaters and earmuffs. This ritual has won the hearts of millions of devotees, and many videos and photos are going viral on the internet.

About Sarasbaug Ganesh temple
The Sarasbaug Ganesh temple has been one of the go-tos of Lord Ganesha devotees. This temple was built in 1750 by Shrimant Nanasaheb Peshwa in the middle of a lake. Over time, the lake started to disappear, and a garden was created around the temple, making it the beautiful Sarasbaug we see today. Locals also call it “Talyatla Ganpati” because of its original location in the lake, reported The Free Press Journal. The temple, now located at the centre of the garden, attracts people from across Pune and nearby regions.
This temple witnesses an increase in devotees during winter. As for making idols wearing warm clothes is not only about making Lord Ganesh comfortable but also strengthening the bond between devotees and gods.
