Bengaluru Metro has become a daily mode of transport, especially for office-goers, college students, and other commuters. Now, a major update has been announced as Bengaluru Metro has revised the timelines for both the Blue Line and Pink Line. Read on to know more!

What Is The New Timeline For Bengaluru Metro Blue Line?

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has revised the timeline for the Blue Line. This 58-km-long stretch connects Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport. As per Native Planet, the line is planned to open in three phases, with full operations targeted for March 2028.

These three phases are Hebbal–Airport, KR Puram–Hebbal, and finally, the full Silk Board–Airport corridor. The Hebbal–Airport section is expected to open by September 2027, followed by the KR Puram–Hebbal section in early 2028. This is considered the most difficult part of the project. Finally, the complete Silk Board–Airport corridor is expected to become operational by March 2028.

Pink Line In Bengaluru Delayed

The 7.5-km Pink Line in Bengaluru stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere is now facing a slight delay. According to Native Planet, this section was previously planned to open on August 15 but has now been pushed to late September 2026. It will open once the CMRS safety inspection and other approvals are completed.

The Pink Line received an interim speed certificate on August 12, allowing the trains to move ahead for the next safety check. The Railway Board has also given the required signalling clearance, helping the process move closer to the line’s opening. Once opened, this route will offer relief to Bannerghatta Road commuters.

Bengaluru is also planning major road work on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). This ₹450-crore work is expected to take place between October 2026 and January 2027. This has raised concerns among companies operating along the ORR. More than 500 firms and around 8–10 lakh employees depend on this busy corridor every day. However, before the work starts, authorities will plan traffic diversions and study the traffic impact.
