According to India Today, the inaugural Blue Line of Patna Metro will run from the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) to Bhoothnath. It will cover three key stations—Patliputra ISBT, Zero Mile, and Bhoothnath–and will officially open to the public on October 7.

The inaugural run took place on Monday, in the presence of the Bihar CM and Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. The maiden Patna Metro was inaugurated at Patliputra Bus Depot. Back in 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the city’s first metro corridor, and the total estimated cost of the project is ₹13,925.5 crore.

As per reports, phase 1 of Patna Metro is spearheaded by infrastructure major L&T. The authorities also roped in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for consultation on the project.

All You Need To Know About This New Line

On Monday, Patna became the 24th Indian city to have its own operational metro rail system. As part of the inaugural stretch, passengers will be able to travel on the 3.6-kilometre elevated stretch of the Patna Metro. It will cover three stations–ISBT Station, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath Station. While the minimum fare for a single station ride is ₹15, the full route will cost commuters just ₹30.

The metro coaches bear motifs inspired by the state’s famous Madhubani art. The traditional patterns are an ode to Bihar’s cultural identity. The metro services will operate daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. Furthermore, each train has the capacity to carry up to 900 passengers at a time. Each coach is designed to hold 300 people and will ensure smoother travel, especially during rush hours. For now, the train will be available every 20 minutes.
