Air India Express suspended a flight flying from Vijayawada to Bengaluru on Thursday, September 4. This happened because the flight was hit by a bird, while it was taxiing for takeoff. Air India Express Cancels Vijayawada To Bengaluru Flight
According to the airport officials, the eagle hit the aircraft before the flight took off. The airline decided to cancel the flight and then arranged alternative travel options for the passengers. This is not the first time an Air India Express flight has caused disturbances in passengers’ travel plans recently. Before this incident, one of the airline’s flights flying from Trichy to Sharjah was delayed by several hours due to a technical snag, India Today reported.
Due to the flight delay, many passengers were left stranded for hours. After some time, they were safely deboarded. Another similar incident happened on August 17. The flight from Kochi to Delhi had to abort takeoff after a technical problem was detected. Passengers were later shifted to another aircraft. The airline informed that they were following strict protocols and also ensured that necessary assistance was provided to the passengers.
IndiGo Cancels Flight Due To Bird Hit
Another bird hit incident was reported by IndiGo. Two days before the Air India Express incident, the IndiGo flight from Nagpur to Kolkata was cancelled. Just before taking off from the runway, the aircraft was hit by a bird. The bird had damaged the front portion of the aircraft. As a precautionary step, the pilot decided to land the flight back in Nagpur and not to move forward with the flight, Hindustan Times reported.
IndiGo flight 6E812 that departed right on the scheduled time was later cancelled for the entire day, and passengers were given the option of a full refund or an alternative travel arrangement.
Bird hits on aeroplanes can lead to serious situations. To prevent any risk, airlines often cancel flights to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
