Delhi Airport Issues Advisory For Ebola Virus Diseases
On Thursday, May 21, Delhi Airport shared an advisory on its social media handle. In the advisory, the airport mentioned that travellers arriving or transiting through Ebola-affected countries should immediately report to health officials if they feel unwell. As per Hindustan Times, one day before the airport issued the advisory, the Union Health Secretary held an important meeting with different state governments. Why? To check how prepared India is to handle Ebola cases and what safety steps should be taken if the disease spreads.
As per Delhi Airport, Congo, Uganda and South Sudan are high-risk countries. Passengers travelling from these nations, or those who recently passed through them, have been told to stay alert for symptoms and cooperate with health checks at the airport.

What Are The Symptoms Of This Disease?
As per the advisory, travellers should watch for signs such as fever, weakness, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, sore throat and unexplained bleeding. Authorities also asked passengers who had direct contact with the blood or body fluids of a person suspected or confirmed to have Ebola to immediately report to the airport health officer or health desk before completing immigration clearance.
The advisory further stated that travellers who experience symptoms within 21 days of arrival should seek medical help without delay and inform healthcare officials about their travel history. Authorities stressed that early reporting can help prevent the disease from spreading further.
