Delhi Metro’s 23.62-Km-Long Golden Line, With 21 Stations, Likely To Be Completed By Year End

We come bearing good news for Delhiites. The Delhi Metro is set to become even more efficient, with the Golden Line likely to be completed by the end of the year. The Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor will serve as a key addition to the city’s already extensive network. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Delhi Metro’s Golden Line To Be Completed By Year End?

According to Hindustan Times, around 71.3% of the work on the upcoming Tughlakabad-Aerocity Golden Line of the Delhi Metro has been completed. If progress continues as planned, the entire corridor is expected to be finished by the end of the year. The 23.62-km-long line will feature 21 stations.

Speaking to the publication, Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC, confirmed that 71.33% of the overall work and 78% of the civil construction have been completed. He added that five tunnel boring machines (TBMs) are currently operational on the Aerocity-Vasant Kunj stretch, accelerating tunnelling work in the area.

DMRC officials also indicated that, if timelines hold, some sections of the Golden Line could become operational by the end of the year.

Here’s How This Line Will Help Delhiites

The Golden Line of the Delhi Metro will pass through key areas such as Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj, Chhatarpur, and run along the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road up to Tughlakabad. This corridor is expected to ease congestion across parts of south Delhi while also improving connectivity to the airport.

As part of Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 expansion, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation planned three priority corridors covering a total of 65.2 km. Of these, the 12.5-km Maujpur-Majlis Park stretch on the Pink Line is already operational. Additionally, of the 28.9-km Janakpuri West-RK Ashram corridor, a 9.9-km section from Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park has been opened for public use, HT reported.
