On Wednesday, October 22, the Delhi government announced a three-day celebration at the Red Fort in Delhi. At this event, people will get to experience devotional music, cultural performances, and tributes honouring the ninth Sikh Guru’s life and teachings. As per Hindustan Times, the Union Ministry of Culture will also organise a light and sound show at the Red Fort and across 11 districts of Delhi. To ensure the success of this show, the authorities are planning to use mobile vans. Also with advanced visual effects and storytelling, the show will depict Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life, philosophy, and ultimate sacrifice. 

The Delhi government will set up a temporary museum inside the Red Fort to display key moments from Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life. Authorities will also release a coffee table book highlighting his contributions to humanity and the freedom of faith.

Things To Look Out For At The Event

For this celebration, during a high-level meeting, Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra and Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced several initiatives. The Delhi government plans to start a special academic chair named after Guru Tegh Bahadur at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The chair will focus on studying and researching the Guru’s life, teachings, and philosophy.

Along with this, the government will also renovate the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital in East Delhi. The hospital will get modern medical equipment and improved facilities to provide better healthcare services to people. In talks with Hindustan Times, Kapil Mishra said the Delhi government wants to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary not just as a religious event but as a celebration of India’s unity, peace, and rich culture.

The Punjab government will also organise a series of events to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. From November 1 to 18, Punjab will host light and sound shows across all districts. From November 19 to 22, a grand Nagar Kirtan will travel from Srinagar through Jammu, Pathankot, and Hoshiarpur, ending at Sri Anandpur Sahib.  The main celebrations will then take place from November 23 to 25 at Sri Anandpur Sahib, where concluding samagams will be held.
