Okay, this one came as a surprise for us too, but here’s another fascinating thing the internet taught us: Cadbury hosts an annual marathon in Australia! Yes, your favourite chocolate brand has been organising these runs since 1984. What’s even better? You don’t have to travel all the way to Tasmania to be a part of it. Thanks to its virtual participation option, runners from around the world can join the marathon from wherever they are. Here’s everything you need to know about the unique chocolate-themed race.
Annual Cadbury Marathon In Tasmania, Australia
So, the marathon begins and ends outside the famous Cadbury Chocolate Factory in Claremont, Tasmania in Australia. There are a series of races–Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km, and a 1km run for kids, ages 12 and under.
One of the most fascinating things about this annual marathon is the medals given to participants at the end! The Cadbury Marathon medals are adorable, to say the least! Over the last few years, these medals have featured shiny gold characters like the Cadbury Freddo Frog, appearing out of the signature Cadbury chocolate purple wrapper. These medal designs are updated every year, and marathon runners especially love their fun, colourful, candy-themed appearance.
As we mentioned earlier, you don’t have to be physically present in Australia to be part of this marathon! You can register online for virtual participation, choose your own start and finish points, and submit your results online within the marathon week. Once verified, your medal will be delivered straight to your doorstep. Pretty cool, right?
