Dosa has come a long way. What was once just plain dosa, masala dosa and butter dosa now has Chinese and Mexican flavours too. Now, a viral video online is taking us through the “Evolution of Dosa”, showing how this South Indian favourite has changed in Bengaluru over the years. The video also shows what it could look like in the future. Scroll down to see!

How Much Has Dosa Changed In Bengaluru?

M (@just.tell.m), who specialises in meal planning, ordering and home-cooked food, recently took to social media to give us a hilarious visual of how dosas in Bengaluru have changed over the years. The video begins with him sitting at a dosa stall in the year 1995, where he is served a dosa with a little ghee on top. Forward to 2025, the dosa comes with a whole glass of ghee.

Then in 2035, things get even more dramatic. He is served a dosa inside an entire patila filled with ghee. But by 2050, the evolution has gone completely overboard. He is thrown into a swimming pool filled with ghee, where he eventually finds a dosa.

This Dosa Evolution Has Netizens In Splits

The video showing how dosas have changed and will change in Bengaluru has gone viral online. Many netizens related to it and shared their reactions.

One user commented, “Next is benne scuba ghee podi masala dosa.”

Another comment read, “This ghee culture is ruining the dosa culture of our world, and every city you go to, there are plenty of outlets murdering it… The tuppa is meant to be in a small katori, if at all, on the side… The worst is the benne culture. Half the world doesn’t know that benne is plain white butter… It became like a fashion thing, man… Oh, let’s go out for a benne na, benne podi ghee masala dosa. I have actually seen varieties like garlic, Schezwan and cheese for some bloody ₹300.”

Another netizen added, “Oh, so trying to catch up with Punjabis‘ ghee obsession.”

One Instagram user added, “There’s no such thing as too much ghee.”
