A former South Africa cricketer, Dale Steyn, currently in India, has been exploring some of Mumbai’s most iconic spots. During his visit, he stopped by the famous Leopold Cafe, a place that has been running for years and still draws huge crowds with long waiting lines. Sharing his experience, the cricketer spoke about what makes this legendary cafe so special.

Date Steyn Impressed With Mumbai’s Leopold Cafe

During ICC Men’s T20 World Cup warm-up matches, Dale Steyn visited Mumbai’s iconic Leopold Cafe. Sharing his experience on social media, the former South African cricketer said that sitting in the cafe felt like “something straight out of an 80’s movie.” He described the interiors, noting that there was no modern air-conditioning, only old ceiling fans, and mixed lighting with some lights working and others not.

He also mentioned that the cafe’s manager has been working there since 2008. Steyn observed how waiters moved quickly through tightly packed tables, adding to the place’s lively chaos. He even pointed out the sight of an American sipping a Budweiser. Summing it up, he called the experience “weirdly awesome.”

Leopold Café is a historic Irani café on Colaba Causeway in Mumbai and has been around since 1871. One of the city’s oldest eateries, it is known for its high ceilings, old-school fans, open windows, and a buzzing, crowded vibe that pulls in both locals and tourists every day.
