Pokemon Plane Japan

If you grew up watching Ash Ketchum throw his Poké Ball, laughing at Team Rocket’s endless failed schemes, and hearing Pikachu’s iconic “Pika, Pika,” this news will bring back all the nostalgia. Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) has unveiled the first look at two new Pokémon-themed planes to celebrate 30 years of the beloved Pokémon franchise.

Japan To Get Pokémon-Themed Planes Soon

The Pokémon franchise is turning 30 this year, and Japan’s ANA is giving a visual treat to its flyers! The airline has unveiled the look of two brand-new Pokémon-themed planes–the Pokémon Jet Red and Pokémon Jet Green, and it has already caught the attention of fans worldwide.

According to NDTV, Jet Red features fire-type starter Pokémon from across the series, including Charmander, Cyndaquil and Scorbunny, along with the newly introduced Pombo from Pokémon Waves. Meanwhile, Jet Green showcases grass-type starters such as Bulbasaur, Treecko and Rowlet, as well as the new character Browt from Pokémon Winds. Of course, Pikachu was not missed and would feature on the front and centre of both aircraft designs!

What Awaits Inside The Plane?

The best bit? The Pokémon magic doesn’t stop on the outside of these planes in Japan! As soon as you step in, you will be welcomed by an entirely themed cabin experience. Think custom headrest covers, limited-edition cups, cocktail napkins, and much more with your favourite Pokémon characters on them.

Both of the new Pokémon-themed aircraft will begin flying from July 2026, with the Pokémon Jet Red operating on domestic routes and the Boeing 787-9 Pokémon Jet Green serving international destinations. They will cover routes like Tokyo Haneda to Sapporo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Kagoshima, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Ishigaki.

It is worth noting that the world’s first Pokémon-themed airport is also set to launch around the same time. Located in the Noto Peninsula, Noto Satoyama Airport will be temporarily rebranded as “Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport” until September 2029.
