Gen Z Shows Distance Isn’t A Barrier To Love; Delhi & Mumbai Lead In Cross-City Likes

Tinder Gen Z

It looks like travel isn’t just a hobby for Gen Z! According to Tinder’s Year in Swipe 2024 report, travel is a major part of Gen Z’s dating lives, and ranks as the top interest among young users. So much so that even after a vacation ends, this generation doesn’t let distance dictate their love stories and is happy to travel to meet their partners. For them, trips aren’t just about exploring new places but also about meeting new people and forging meaningful connections.

Gen Z is happy to explore and see where their holiday romance takes them, even after the vacation ends! Tinder’s report has found that this generation is keeping the spark alive long after the suitcase is unpacked. For them, long-distance is no longer a dealbreaker, as they are happy to travel to other cities and countries to see how the romance unfolds.

Tinder’s Year in Swipe report revealed that travel ranks as the top interest among young users. They found that nearly half of young Indians are open to dating someone outside their city, and a third are even ready to go international. In fact, one in five has already met someone while travelling.

According to Aditi Shorewal, Communications Lead for Tinder in India and Korea, Gen Z doesn’t believe in the whole “out of sight means out of heart” thing. “For a generation that values authenticity, distance can actually deepen connections and make relationships more meaningful,” she adds.

Most Popular Cities For Cross-City Likes

Tinder’s Year in Swipe report also revealed that cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Pune are among the most popular destinations for cross-city likes in India. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re in Delhi or any other part of the world; distance is just a detail that Gen Z doesn’t mind covering. For them, travel is about self-growth and discovery, Tinder noted. After all, it’s 2025 and love is no longer limited by pin codes or borders, only by how far you’re willing to take it!
