Indian Railways To Upgrade Iconic Golden Chariot For 2026-27 Season
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced an upgraded version of the iconic Golden Chariot for the 2026-27 season. As per NDTV, the luxury train will now leave you awestruck with new interiors, improved hospitality services and specially curated cultural experiences across South India.
While travelling on this train in 2026, you’ll get to see newly redesigned cabins with stylish interiors. The premium bath amenities with pleasant fragrances for a more relaxing experience are also added. Each cabin now has smart TVs and Wi-Fi streaming. It’s perfect for those who want movies or to see songs during their journey.

What Are Improved Safety & Hospitality Services?
The newly upgraded version also has improved safety and hospitality services. Golden Chariot now features advanced fire alarm systems, CCTV monitoring and a trained hospitality team. As per NDTV, complimentary house beverages will also be served on board. The train can host up to 80 guests across 40 cabins.
Travellers can pick between cosy double-bed cabins or comfortable twin-bed options, depending on how they wish to travel. The train also features a specially designed cabin to ensure differently abled passengers enjoy a smooth journey.
The two signature restaurants on the train, Ruchi and Nalapaka, will continue to operate. The train also features the Madira lounge bar along with the Arogya Spa and Fitness Centre.
For the 2026-27 season, IRCTC has introduced three luxury journeys on the Golden Chariot. Pride of Karnataka covers Bandipur National Park, Mysuru, Hampi and Goa, while Jewels of South takes travellers through Mysuru, Mahabalipuram, Thanjavur and Cochin. For a shorter trip, Glimpses of Karnataka offers a tour of Bandipur, Mysuru Palace and Hampi.
IRCTC has also announced promotional offers for the upcoming season. Select departures will get discounts of up to 20%, depending on availability. Travellers who confirm bookings with payment before June 30, 2026, will receive an additional 5% early-bird discount.
