Good News! Bengaluru Airport Cuts UDF To ₹300 For Domestic Flyers; Check New Rate For Int’l Flyers

Travelling From Bengaluru Airport To Soon Become Cheaper

From September 1, 2026, flying from Bengaluru airport will become cheaper. The airport will introduce a new tariff structure, aim to reduce the User Development Fee (UDF) for departing passengers. As per Moneycontrol, the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has approved a new aeronautical tariff for Bengaluru airport for its fourth control period. 

This period will run from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031. However, passengers will see the revised tariff come into effect from September 1, 2026. The good news is that passengers flying out of Bengaluru airport will now pay a lower UDF. For domestic departures, the fee will drop from ₹550 to ₹300, giving passengers a saving of ₹250, or around 45.5%. For international departures, the UDF will come down from ₹1,500 to ₹997. That means a reduction of ₹503, or around 33.5%.

Who Will Not Pay UDF?

The new UDF charges will apply only to flight tickets booked from September 1, 2026. According to Moneycontrol, to those UDF charges does not apply are children below two years, diplomatic passport holders, airline crew travelling for work and certain passengers travelling on official duty. Passengers taking a connecting flight within 24 hours on the same ticket will also not have to pay the UDF. 

Moreover, landing charges for the aircraft has also been changes. airlines will have to pay a fee based on the weight of the aircraft when it lands at Bengaluru airport. From September 1, 2026, the landing charge will be ₹325 per metric tonne for domestic flights and ₹455 per metric tonne for international flights, as per the tariff approved by AERA. 

Some aircraft will not have to pay landing charges. This includes domestic scheduled flights with fewer than 80 passenger seats, DGCA-approved training flights, helicopters and military aircraft. Aircraft can also park at the airport for the first two hours without paying a parking fee. After two hours, parking charges will apply. The airport will also charge ₹75 per domestic departing passenger and $1 per international departing passenger for CUTE, CUSS and BRS facilities. 

AERA has also introduced a Variable Tariff Plan to encourage airlines to start new services, add international routes and increase flight frequencies. Under this plan, eligible airlines can get discounts on landing charges for new or underserved routes. The benefits will depend on the type and distance of the route.

For international routes, those below 4,500 km will be considered short-haul, while routes of 4,500 km or more will be long-haul. Cargo airlines can also get incentives for new domestic or international freighter services and additional flights on existing international routes. The approved tariff will remain in place until March 31, 2031.
