Delhi’s kids will soon have brand-new playgrounds to spend their evenings at! The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has approved the development of multiple themed parks across the city. Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting plan.
Delhi To Have Several Themed Parks For Children
Themed parks in Delhi are soon going to become a reality. Drawing inspiration from Dino Park, an extension of the Waste to Wonder Park, the MCD has launched a new initiative. As per a report by Hindustan Times, a senior MCD official stated that each administrative zone of the horticulture department will get one themed park.
According to the finalised plan, the parks will feature these unique themes:
- Greater Kailash II (M Block Market): Garuda theme (a mythological eagle)
- Mayapuri: Jungle Book theme
- Saket: Butterfly park
- Swasthya Vihar: Sea animal theme
- Mayur Vihar: Peacock-themed park
- Karol Bagh (Ajmal Khan Park): Octopus theme
Fun Facilities For Kids
As per the same report, these children’s parks will also include swings, slides, balance beams, spiral tunnels, and other play equipment designed according to their respective themes. Each of these parks is estimated to cost around ₹1-3 crore.
Work has already started in Rohini’s Teachers’ Park and in Kalkaji Park, where an insect theme is being designed. The authorities also plan to install statues and paintings of insect-themed superheroes such as Spider-Man and Ant-Man. These additions aim to make the parks more interactive and engaging for children.
We think this is such a great initiative by Delhi’s MCD. It will definitely encourage children to step away from video games and spend more time outdoors in parks designed around their favourite characters and superheroes. These kids are truly lucky to have themed parks coming up in their city!
Just recently, it was also reported that the city has plans to revamp spaces under flyovers with play areas, gyms, public libraries, and more. And now, with the addition of these new themed-based parks, it’s clear that Delhi is on its way to a major upgrade!
