Imagine having a robot dog with you on your next trip to the mountains. Sounds fun, right? Well, there is a new robot dog from China that is making the idea seem surprisingly realistic. Designed to tackle rough terrain, carry luggage and follow its owner, the four-legged machine has gone viral after industrialist Harsh Goenka shared a video of it on X. Want to know more about it? Harsh Goenka Shares Robot Dog As A Perfect Travel Partner

In the video posted by Harsh Goenka on his X account, the robot is seen easily climbing a rocky hillside with ease. Sharing the video, Goenka wrote, “Chinese company Unitree revealed their “all terrain” wheeled robot dog that climbs cliffs, races across rough terrain, and can be your travel companion. Very soon, Galgotia University should be showcasing this invention. “The post has drawn public interest, with many questioning whether such robots could soon become common companions for trekkers and outdoor lovers.

Developed by Unitree Robotics, the Unitree As2 is built for practical applications rather than entertainment. According to the company, it can aid in rescue operations, industrial inspections, security work, scientific research and outdoor exploration. A second variant, the As2-W, integrates robotic legs with large wheels, enabling it to move faster while handling challenging terrain.

How The Robot Dog Can Be Your Best Travel Companion

Built for off-road environments, the As2 can climb gradients of up to 40° and step over obstacles 50 cm high, while the wheeled As2-W can tackle 45-degree climbs and obstacles up to 80 cm.

For travellers, one of its biggest draws is its ability to carry gear. The As2 can move up to 15 kg, while the As2-W can carry 16 kg, which makes it useful for hauling backpacks, camping equipment or camera gear during long hikes.

The robots also feature Unitree’s ISS 3.0 Intelligent Follow System, allowing them to automatically follow a person without constant manual control. They are IP54-rated for dust and water resistance, enabling them to operate in light rain and dusty conditions.
