There are many videos going viral online showing Shashi Tharoor being rescued after getting trapped in a lift. He got stuck in a lift at a private hotel in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The leader was on his way to attend the installation ceremony of the Rotary Club of Trivandrum East. However, before the event could begin, the lift carrying Tharoor and several others stopped functioning and got stuck.
As per NDTV, the people inside the lift tried different ways to get out, but nothing worked. Soon, the Fire and Rescue Services were called. They received the call around 7:37 PM and immediately rushed to the hotel. To rescue everyone, the team used a hydraulic spreader to open the jammed lift door. The operation was successful, and everyone was rescued safely.

Shashi Tharoor Steps Out Smiling
After the lift was opened, Shashi Tharoor stepped out smiling. Later, while speaking to the media, he informed everyone that all the people in the lift were safe. Speaking about the incident, he revealed that being stuck in the lift for half an hour made him late for two of his appointments, but he was impressed with the Kerala Fire & Rescue Service.
In a post, he wrote, “But I would wish to add a huge thank-you, and my highest appreciation, for the speed, efficiency and capability of the Kerala Fire & Rescue Service, who did a highly commendable job within minutes of receiving our call.” He also jokingly told the rescue personnel to stay back for tea if they had the time. The officers politely declined the offer and left after shaking hands with him.
