It Took 10 Years To Sculpt The Sahasralingam
This Shivling is known as ‘Sahasralingam’ as it’s described to be the world’s largest Shivling. The installation of this Sahasralingam happened at the under-construction temple complex in Kathwalia village of Kalyanpur. The Shivling was carved out of a single black granite monolith. It took nearly a decade to craft it in Pattikadu village in Tamil Nadu. This village is located near Mahabalipuram. On its surface, there are 1008 smaller lingams, and it’s designed for structural durability over the years.
The base of the platform stands a hoarding with a photograph of late Acharya Kishor Kunal. He was an IPS officer, former chairman of the Bihar State Religious Trust Board and the visionary of this project. People from across Bihar walked long distances to be able to make it for this auspicious day. Police personnel were deployed to ensure things went smoothly.
