Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s December 20 visit, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has shared stunning visuals of the new terminal at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The Guwahati airport is back in the spotlight for its stunning architecture! Here’s more on this. 

First Glimpse Of The New Terminal At Guwahati Airport


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new terminal building at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on December 20. Ahead of the visit, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the first glimpse of the terminal on social media. He shared images of the new terminal and wrote, “Good morning, guys! New LGBI pics just dropped, and it’s sure to blow your mind.”

And honestly, looking at the images, there’s only one thing to say. Guwahati airport might just become India’s next most beautiful airport. The calming and aesthetic interiors feel almost like stepping into a retreat. The terminal perfectly reflects modern sustainability, with bamboo ceilings, abundant natural light, and plenty of greenery.

A Terminal That Shows Assam’s Culture 

According to a report by The Sentinel, the new terminal has been built at an estimated cost of ₹4,000 crore. The design strongly reflects Assam’s cultural identity. The interiors feature bamboo elements, foxtail orchid motifs, and a Gamosa-inspired theme. The terminal also introduces a ‘Sky Forest’ concept and is equipped with advanced security systems and modern passenger amenities. Overall, the new terminal showcases Assam’s traditions while matching global airport standards.

Once operational, the terminal is expected to significantly boost passenger and cargo handling capacity. The addition of state-of-the-art cargo processing facilities is also likely to improve connectivity and trade opportunities for the region. In conclusion, the new terminal at Guwahati airport is truly breathtaking. Passengers will find it hard to resist clicking photos once it opens to the public.
