100 Projects Approved For Indian Railways
These 100 projects approved by the Ministry of Railways will cover more than 6,000 kilometres of the railway network. Officials will invest a total of ₹1.53 lakh crore to transform Indian Railways and boost rail connectivity across the country. According to The Free Press Journal, project approvals have increased by 56% in FY 2025-26. Last year, authorities had approved 64 projects worth ₹72,869 crore, covering 2,800 kilometres.
Reportedly, these 100 projects will include new lines, doubling, and multi-tracking works, along with bypass lines, flyovers, and chord lines. According to The Free Press Journal, these projects will significantly improve operational efficiency and reduce travel time across the railway network. The plan spans nearly all major states, including Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, these projects are aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and go beyond infrastructure development.
Authorities will also focus on expanding rail connectivity in tribal and remote regions like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha. This will also help generate employment for many people. We think these projects are amazing for the overall railway development in India. No matter how many flights operate every day, a large majority of Indians still depend heavily on train travel.
