When an Indian air carrier adds flights to new international routes, it opens a window for travellers to quench the wanderlust in them. India’s largest low-cost carrier, IndiGo, launched direct flights from Chennai to a new travel destination, Reunion Island, on Friday, April 29. What Is IndiGo Chennai-Reunion Island Flight Schedule?

IndiGo’s first Chennai-Reunion Island flight departed on April 29, 2029, on an Airbus A320 aircraft. With this launch, India’s largest airline became the only one in the country to start services on this route. The non-stop connection from Chennai to the French overseas territory in the Indian Ocean indicated the start of a new beginning in the travel landscape.

For travellers, already bookmarking this destination, IndiGo’s direct Chennai-Reunion Island flights will operate on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Moreover, all these flights will depart from the Tamil Nadu capital at 12:20 PM and land in Reunion Island at 5:10 PM.

Return flights will take off from Reunion Island at 6:10 PM and arrive in Chennai at 2:10 AM the next day. All timings mentioned here are in local time zones. The flights will run thrice a week and will offer services to both leisure and business fliers, connecting them between India and the island in the Indian Ocean.

It’s The 1st Indian Airline To Offer Flights To This Route

As per a report by The Financial Express, IndiGo’s Chennai-Reunion Island route is expected to witness a growing demand from 3,00,000 Indian-origin inhabitants on the island. Apart from tourism, fliers are expected to commute between the two destinations for medical visits, business and family visit purposes.

Talking about IndiGo’s launch of this much-awaited route, Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, shared his opinion with The Financial Express. He stated that IndiGo is pleased to connect direct flights to Reunion Island. Moreover, he elaborated that it’s the only Indian airline offering direct connectivity between the two destinations.

Malhotra also stressed that the global destination offers diverse experiences like adventure activities in UNESCO-recognised national spots, coastal tourism and more.
