If long check-in queues at airports are your biggest pet peeve, this update might actually make your travels easier! Here’s everything you need to know.

IndiGo Rolls Out Self Check-In Counters At Mumbai Airport T2

Digital creator Rishabh Pai recently shared a video showcasing the new self check-in counters at Mumbai Airport Terminal 2. In the clip, he explains how passengers can now simply scan their details and load their luggage without relying on airline staff. “IndiGo ne luggage check-in ekdum bandh kar diya hai, and now you might need to come even earlier to the airport,” he says in the video.

He clarifies that by “bandh,” he doesn’t mean the service has stopped, rather, most traditional check-in counters have been replaced with self-service kiosks, with minimal staff assistance available. According to him, the process is fairly simple. At the first machine, passengers need to enter their PNR details, after which a baggage tag is printed. Travellers can then attach the sticker themselves before proceeding to drop off their luggage at the designated counter.

As you walk ahead to there, you have to scan your boarding pass, put the bag on the belt and the machine will weigh and scan your luggage. From there, your bag will go and self check-in–that’s it!

What Passengers Have To Say

Rishabh Pai adds that while self check-in may seem a bit daunting at first, it becomes fairly easy to use over time. He also points out that a few counters at Mumbai Airport T2, are still manually operated by IndiGo staff, but most have now been converted into self check-in kiosks.

That said, the move has sparked mixed reactions among passengers. While many believe the system is quicker, easier, and more convenient, others are not entirely convinced. Several users took to the comments section to raise concerns about its impact on jobs and the challenges faced by those who aren’t comfortable using machines. Some also questioned how issues like excess baggage would be handled.

In short, while many travellers are embracing IndiGo’s self check-in system for its convenience, others find it a bit complicated and less user-friendly.
