Mobile Phones Banned In Kedarnath Temple

The Char Dham Yatra 2026 began with Gangotri and Yamunotri on April 19. Now, Kedarnath and Badrinath are all set to open on April 22 and April 23 respectively. According to NDTV, ahead of Kedarnath’s opening, the temple is already grabbing attention, with the shrine beautifully decorated with mountains of marigold flowers.

But while one side is all about grand decorations, the other side brings a strict update. Temple authorities have introduced a new rule, and mobile phones are now completely banned inside the Kedarnath Temple premises. This means devotees won’t be able to click photos, shoot videos, or make social media reels inside the shrine area. All phones will have to be kept outside before entering the temple.

Why Are Mobile Phones Banned In The Temple?

To understand the reason of banning mobile phones in Kedarnath Temple, ANI spoke to Temple Committee Member Vineet Posti. He mentioned that the decision has been taken to manage the heavy rush expected during the pilgrimage season. Authorities have noticed that in recent years, a large number of visitors were more focused on filming reels and taking photos than on offering prayers.

NDTV reported that the temple administration has made it very clear that this rule will be followed strictly. A zero-tolerance policy is in place for anyone who breaks the mobile phone ban. While exact penalties have not been shared yet, officials have confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate the rule.
