Karimeen Pollichathu, a signature Indian seafood delicacy, has made it to TasteAtlas’ World’s 100 Most Iconic Seafood Dishes alongside some delicacies from Japan, Mexico, Italy and more. Here’s why this lip-smacking dish is special and what it is made of!
Karimeen Pollichathu Makes It To TasteAtlas’ List
Be it the world’s best ice creams, puddings, pancakes or more, TasteAtlas is known for often ranking the world’s best dishes, cuisines, ingredients and more. A few days back, Indian foodies were quite upset when the platform ranked hing on the list of “World’s Stinkiest Foods”, but now, TasteAtlas has made foodies happy by giving Kerala’s Karimeen Pollichathu from Karimpumkala the 49th spot on the World’s 100 Most Iconic Seafood Dishes.
For those of you who don’t know, Karimeen Pollichathu is made with pearl spot fish that is marinated in spices and shallow-fried in coconut oil. It is then coated in spicy-tangy onion-tomato masala, wrapped in a banana leaf and gently pan-roasted. This seafood dish is especially famous in regions like Alappuzha, Kottayam and Kochi.
