Road accidents can be devastating, often leaving many injured and claiming lives. In a tragic incident on Wednesday, a bus carrying pilgrims caught fire after colliding with a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan. Read on to find out what happened.
Bus Catches Fire On Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
The bus operated by Hans Travels was travelling from Rishikesh to Indore. Free Press Journal reported that during the journey, it crashed into a truck that was travelling ahead of it on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The collision was very strong, and both vehicles caught fire soon after, causing panic among the passengers.
According to Dausa Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit, eight people lost their lives in the accident. Five passengers were burnt alive after the fire broke out. Two others died on the spot after suffering serious head injuries. Another victim lost their life while receiving treatment at the hospital.

How Many People Were Hurt In The Accident?
Due to the intense crash, over 24 people were injured. Rescue teams shifted the injured passengers to the district hospital in Dausa, where doctors said their condition was stable. As per Free Press Journal, one woman receiving treatment at the hospital said that the bus caught fire after hitting the truck. She said her daughter sustained injuries in the accident, while her husband remained missing.
Another survivor described the horrifying moments before the fire. He said that he, his wife, and son were asleep when the bus suddenly crashed into the truck. The impact threw his wife out of the window. She became trapped near the side of the bus and was unable to escape before the flames spread. She died in the fire.
