Earthquake Around The Border Region

This earthquake occurred amid increased seismic activities in the region. According to Hindustan Times, a day earlier, a 4.1-magnitude earthquake hit Afghanistan, highlighting that tremors have become more frequent in the area lately. Afghanistan also experienced a 4.2-magnitude quake on January 15 at a depth of 96 km and another 3.8-magnitude tremor on January 14 at a depth of 90 km, as per NCS data.

Experts advise that shallow earthquakes are usually more dangerous because their seismic waves reach the ground with stronger force. In this case, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 171 km, which reduced the risk of serious damage. Even so, residents should remain cautious and stay alert, as aftershocks can happen after major earthquakes.

We hope people living in these regions are safe and follow instructions issued by the authorities.
