In India, everyday travel often brings unexpected moments of inspiration. Recently, one such moment unfolded during a simple cab ride in Hyderabad. What seemed like a routine journey soon turned into an inspiring real-life story. A Hyderabad man was surprised to see a woman cab driver, whose story proves she is a true example of women’s empowerment.
Hyderabad Man Surprised To See Woman Cab Driver
A Hyderabad-based man, Suresh Kochattil (@kochattil), shared this incident on social media. What was supposed to be a regular journey turned into something worth sharing. In his post, he mentioned that he booked a cab from Nationalist Hub to 99TV, but two drivers cancelled the ride.
When a third driver was assigned, Kochattil noticed something unusual. The driver’s name appeared to be a woman’s. Curious and slightly surprised, he waited to see who would arrive. Soon, a woman driver picked him up.
In his post, Kochattil also shared a picture of the woman driver and spoke about her story. During the ride, the driver, named Nandini, spoke openly about her life. She told him that she has been driving with Uber for the past year. Nandini is a single mother of three children. She originally comes from Vijayawada and currently lives in Hyderabad. Despite the challenges she faces, she works hard every day to support her family.
Concluding his post, Kochattil wrote, “These days, when women’s empowerment is often discussed in the media, here is a wonderful example of how a woman has overcome adversity and continues to work hard.”

Netizens Praise Her Dedication
Nandini’s inspiring journey has gone viral across the internet. Many people have appreciated her hard work and dedication in the comments section.
One user wrote, “This is how real women’s empowerment happens. It has always been this way. In my childhood, it was our maid who worked hard to send her son to school because that was the only thing she could do. Now, women like Nandini are driving Uber. Women have always done their best to make sure their families have food on the table.”
Another user commented, “This is real women’s empowerment — not a slogan, but lived courage. Respect to Nandini for her grit, dignity, and determination as a single mother shaping her children’s future. Stories like hers deserve to be seen, celebrated, and supported.”
One more user also shared observations from different sectors, writing, “I see many women working as delivery partners for Zomato and Swiggy too. Sometimes, they even come with their kids. These women are incredibly hardworking.”
One netizen added, “This is what is to be called an Iron Lady.”
