According to India Today, the feline’s new designation came after a commuter shared a post asking the metro operator to give the station’s resident cat an official position. The post quickly caught attention online, and MMMOCL responded by giving the cat a rather impressive job description.
According to the metro operator, the cat’s responsibilities include station inspections, observing commuters and sitting in exactly the right spots where everyone can admire it. And if that wasn’t enough, MMMOCL declared that its performance so far has been “purrfect.”
The playful exchange has since gone viral, with social media users enjoying the idea of a cat becoming one of Mumbai Metro’s newest officials.
Some users even joked that Gundavali station should be renamed “Meowdavli”, while others called the ginger cat the station’s new security guard.

From Regular Visitor To Metro’s Favourite Employee
The cat had apparently been a regular presence at the station for months, casually patrolling the premises and becoming familiar to commuters. A commuter named Sandesh Samant recently shared photos of the feline and tagged MMMOCL, suggesting that the “hardworking” station resident deserved an official position.
The metro operator’s response turned the light-hearted request into a viral moment, with the cat now unofficially holding one of the most adorable job titles in Mumbai.
And while the Chief Feline Officer may not be checking tickets or operating trains anytime soon, it certainly seems to have mastered an important part of the job: keeping commuters entertained.
