Mumbai Metro Green Line 4: First Trial Train Coaches Placed On Tracks At Anand Nagar, Thane

We have some good news for Mumbai Metro travellers. On August 25, work finally kicked off on the long-awaited Green Line 4 in the eastern suburbs. Using a heavy crane, authorities placed the first trial train coaches onto the tracks near Anand Nagar in Thane. The trial run is expected to happen in September 2025. Mumbai Metro Green Line 4 Trials To Begin Soon

Mid-Day reported that the trains placed on the tracks currently are only for trial purposes, but have specifications similar to the ones that will actually be used later. In February 2025, the Mumbai Metro authorities gave the responsibility of supplying the official rolling stock (trains) for  Metro Green Line 4 and 4A as a joint venture to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Alstom. For Metro Green Line 4, the authorities have already begun the preparation and have placed the first trial train on the tracks.

The major development in the Mumbai Metro is the new route with 10 stations. It will operate from Gaimukh to Cadbury Junction. This new route will be 10.5 km long and is expected to open in February 2026. The stations on this route will be Cadbury, Majiwada, Kapurbawadi, Manpada, Tikujiniwadi, Dongripada, Vijay Garden, Kasarvadavali, Gowniwada, and Gaimukh. Moreover,  some areas will connect with other metro lines, like Line 5. This will ensure seamless metro connectivity.

Relief For Eastern Suburbs

The new Mumbai Metro Green Line 4 and 4A will be launched soon and aim to ease traffic congestion and provide a faster commuting option. It will seamlessly connect areas from Thane to Wadala. The eastern suburbs regions like Thane face heavy traffic congestion, and metro lines are expected to provide commuters a huge relief. 

According to Mid-Day, the development of the new metro lines has been delayed various times in the past. Now, the authorities are making sure to complete the process on time. The residents of Mumbai and Thane are waiting for new metro services that will make their long-distance travel quicker and comfortable.
