Residents in parts of Thane and Bhiwandi that receive water from the BMC have also been urged to follow the advisory.
The civic body has appealed to residents to use boiled and filtered water for drinking throughout the seven-day period to minimise potential health risks arising from changes in water quality during the reservoir’s commissioning.
Thane To Also Face 24-Hour Water Supply Shutdown
Separately, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) will implement a 10% water cut across its jurisdiction every Wednesday as part of measures to conserve available water stocks amid concerns over the potential impact of El Niño and possible drought-like conditions.
Under the revised water management plan, water supply will be suspended for 24 hours, from 9 am on Wednesday to 9 am on Thursday. The first scheduled shutdown will begin at 9 am on October 28 and continue until 9 am on October 29. The decision follows a state government directive asking local authorities to manage water resources judiciously and prioritise drinking water supplies. The government resolution calls for planned water usage across Maharashtra until August 31, 2027.
