MMB Planning New Viewing Deck At Bandra Fort
The Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) is planning to construct a new viewing deck at Bandra Fort. As per Hindustan Times, the project is part of a ₹17.85-crore coastal protection plan. The viewing deck will offer stunning views of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the upcoming Versova-Bandra Sea Link and the Worli-Dadar coastline.
The proposed viewing deck will be around 37 metres long and 26.5 metres wide. Visitors can reach the deck through a 42-metre-long access ramp connected to the existing promenade. It will be built on strong concrete piles. Once ready, Bandra Fort could become another go-to spot to enjoy beautiful sea views, just like the popular viewing decks at Girgaum and Dadar Chowpatty.

Plans To Strengthen Fort’s Ageing Seawall
The project is not just about the new viewing deck. Hindustan Times reported that its main goal is also to strengthen Bandra Fort’s ageing seawall. Officials said around 370 metres of the seawall has been damaged over the years because of strong tides and heavy monsoon rains.
To make the seawall stronger, the MMB plans to reinforce it. The project also includes building a crown wall and adding drainage openings. These changes will help keep strong waves under control and protect the structure during rough weather. Construction is expected to take around nine months and will be carried out during the non-monsoon season.
While some residents have welcomed the proposed project, others have raised concerns. The Bandra Bandstand Residents Trust (BBRT) said it was not informed about the viewing deck proposal.
