New year alcohol rules

People all over India are waiting for New Year’s Eve to begin. It’s a time for celebration, music, dance, and, of course, alcohol. However, to ensure everyone’s safety, several cities have issued alcohol-related rules ahead of the New Year celebrations. Here’s what you should keep in mind.

HRAWI Issues Alcohol Advisory For New Year’s Eve

According to a report by The Indian Express, the Hotel and Restaurant Association (HRAWI) has issued a detailed advisory to hotels, restaurants, and bars in Mumbai. The guidelines include a strict ban on serving alcohol to minors, curbing over-serving of liquor, and promoting responsible drinking.

These rules aim to ensure public safety during late-night New Year festivities. The advisory also focuses on keeping celebrations safe and enjoyable for guests and staff at venues across the city. Special instructions have been issued to bartenders. They have been clearly told not to serve alcohol to minors or already intoxicated guests under any circumstances.

Other Cities Announce Strict Rules To Prevent Drunk Driving

According to a report by Punekar News, Pune Police have announced strict measures ahead of the New Year celebrations. To prevent drunk driving, pubs, bars, and hotels will now be responsible for ensuring that intoxicated guests do not drive after consuming alcohol. These establishments must arrange alternative transport or cab services for patrons on December 31. If an intoxicated person is found driving, the establishment will be held responsible.

As per a report by Times Now, nearly 100 alcohol-check teams will be deployed across Delhi on December 31. These teams will conduct checks throughout the city to ensure that no one is driving under the influence of alcohol. With parties happening across the city, authorities have tightened checks to prevent mishaps.

According to a report by NDTV, Bengaluru Police has taken responsibility for the safety of ‘heavily intoxicated’ people. Authorities will arrange to drop off drunk patrons at home after New Year’s Eve celebrations. In addition, 15 designated locations have been set up across the city where people can rest and wait until their intoxication wears off. These steps are being taken to ensure a safe welcome to 2026!
