No More 10-Minute Deliveries! Govt Directs Blinkit, Zepto & More To Follow New Rule

Major quick e-commerce companies have now dropped the ‘10-minute delivery’ claim. Your favourite last-minute apps like Blinkit, Zepto, and others have stopped promoting the 10-minute delivery service after gig workers went on a nationwide strike demanding better working conditions. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening.

10-Minute Delivery To Stop From Today

According to a report by Deccan Herald, Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has urged major delivery platforms to remove the mandatory 10-minute delivery deadline from their services. This move comes after many raised serious concerns about the risks delivery agents face while rushing to meet deadlines. Several incidents have gone viral on social media, showing how dangerous it can be for delivery agents to deliver items within such a short time frame.

Reportedly, Mansukh Mandaviya held discussions with officials from Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, Zomato, and others to address these concerns. Blinkit has already acted in this direction and removed its 10-minute delivery deadline. According to a report by Moneycontrol, the meeting also touched upon issues like undue pressure on riders and aggressive delivery timelines that could compromise their safety.

Companies To Take Down Delivery-Time Claims

According to a report by Moneycontrol, the companies have now assured the government that they will remove delivery-time commitments from their advertisements and branding material. Not just that, these quick e-commerce apps will also take down such advertisements from their social media platforms.

This move comes after several gig workers across India went on a nationwide strike on December 31, 2025. They demanded two simple things: better working conditions and the removal of the 10-minute delivery system. It seems their demands have finally been heard.
