Noida International Airport in Jewar is all set to start flight operations from June 15, 2026. And now, the airport is also getting a dedicated weather monitoring station that will significantly help improve aviation safety and hyperlocal forecasting in the National Capital Region (NCR). Here is everything you need to know about this.
A Weather Monitoring Station At Noida International Airport
Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, is a new international aviation hub located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. The airport will serve the Delhi-NCR region and is also expected to reduce crowding at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is designed with modern features and many advanced facilities. According to News18, the airport, which is set to start operations soon, will now also get a dedicated weather monitoring station.
The India Meteorological Department is set to establish this station at the airport to improve aviation safety. The facility has already received government approval and will provide continuous and accurate weather information for airports across the country. Moreover, the weather station will also ensure all-weather readiness and strengthen district-level forecasting for urban regions such as Noida and Ghaziabad.

How The Weather Monitoring Station Will Help Flights
According to News18, the dedicated station will provide real-time meteorological information directly to IMD’s central system. It will help airlines and air traffic officials access weather data to ensure safer flights and more efficient operations. Everyone knows that flight operations depend heavily on wind conditions, rain, visibility, temperature and atmospheric pressure.
The facility will provide information about all these factors while supporting aerodrome forecasts for pilots and airline teams, especially during winter fog and low-visibility conditions. In addition to that, Noida International Airport’s runways are already equipped with Instrument Landing System (ILS) technology at both ends. This allows planes to land safely under varying wind conditions.
