Noida Metro Sees 20% Rise In Ridership After Skywalk Linking Sector 51 And 52 Opens

For daily commuters, metro trains have been a relief, saving them from travelling in packed buses and rickshaws in scorching heat, and much more. Now, to increase ridership, metro authorities are constantly coming up with new services. One such addition is the new skywalk in Noida, which has increased the number of travellers on the Aqua Line. How Did The New Skywalk In Noida Increase Metro Ridership?

Noida launched the skywalk connecting Sector 51 and Sector 52 metro stations on August 28. And the impact is already being seen. With the launch of the skywalk, the daily ridership on the Noida Metro Aqua Line has increased by more than 20%. Earlier, the daily passenger count was around 70,000 in August, which has now increased to around 85,000 in September.

Before the launch, the Aqua Line used to witness steady growth. As per a Hindustan Times report, NMRC data shows that the line recorded 60,705 passengers in June, which increased slightly to 61,811 in July. In August, the average daily ridership reached 73,298.

How Did Travellers Travel Earlier?

Before the skywalk was opened, Noida Metro travellers who had to change between the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Blue Line Sector 52 station and NMRC’s Aqua Line Sector 51 station had to walk around one kilometre. And let’s be honest, it would be frustrating and tiring for anyone.

So, as a solution, the skywalk was launched. This L-shaped skywalk stretches 400 metres and is fully air-conditioned. It helps travellers cover the distance in just five minutes. We’re glad this skywalk has made travel easier for passengers.
