Where Are People Travelling This Festive Season?
Cleartrip’s travel trends tracker, PeekABoo, shows that travel to Kerala has increased during the Onam and Raksha Bandhan week. Bus travel to and within Kerala has seen a triple-digit rise, while air bookings within the state are up 6% year-on-year. Hotel bookings in Kerala have also increased by 69% year-on-year. This data proves that people are also visiting Kerala to enjoy a vacation and experience their culture.
Most people travelling to Kerala by bus or flight are coming from Bengaluru. After Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad are the next biggest source cities. Within Kerala, people are most likely travelling to Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
People Of Which Age Groups Are Travelling?
As per Cleartrip’s data, people aged 25–34 are travelling the most. They make up 29% of flight bookings, 26% of bus bookings and 23% of train bookings. Most travellers are also taking short trips of around 2–3 days.
People are also showing interest in solo travel. Around 75% of air bookings were made by solo travellers, while 96.5% of hotel bookings were made for groups.
Also, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan in North India, air bookings in Lucknow increased by 96%, followed by Bhopal at 86%, Indore at 82%, Raipur at 75% and Patna at 58%. This shows that many people are travelling to celebrate the festival with their families.
For shorter trips, hotel bookings in Delhi and Udaipur rose by 83%. In South India, Hyderabad and Bengaluru were the most booked hotel destinations, and both saw triple-digit growth in hotel bookings.
