On Saturday night, chaos broke out at Bihar’s Pataliputra railway station as a crowd of candidates who were set to appear for a state police exam blocked trains and threw stones to protest what they described as poor arrangements. Want to know what happened next? Read on!

Chaos Breaks Out At Bihar’s Pataliputra Railway Station

The viral video shows a large number of aspirants on the station’s platforms and going down onto the train tracks, shouting slogans, and facing off with officers. As per a report by NDTV, the tensions increased, and protestors destroyed an exam special train, while many people also blocked a train from departing. Police then used tear gas, carried out a baton charge and issued warning shots to spread out the protesters.

Several policemen, including Patna Inspector General Jitendra Rana, sustained minor injuries. He told the portal that there were 250 students and they were preventing the train from moving. The police tried to reason with them, but they refused to obey and threw stones. Visuals from Sunday morning displayed damaged property at the railway station, while stones were strewn across the structure.

The Situation Was Brought Under Control

As per the reports, Thiyagarajan SM stated that the exam candidates had demanded a special train, and the authorities had arranged one for them. He also said that a few anti-social elements within the crowd were responsible for triggering the violence.

The Bihar Police Prohibition, Jail Warder and Mobile Squad Constable examinations were scheduled to take place on Sunday across all 38 districts of the state. Even though officials eventually brought the situation under control, police staff from many stations continued to be deployed at Pataliputra railway station as a precautionary step to maintain law and order.
