Bihar treetop walkway

Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, also known as Patna Zoo, is all set to introduce a new attraction for visitors. A first-of-its-kind ‘treetop walkway’ will make the experience of exploring the zoo a lot better. A proposal for the project has been sent to the Central Zoo Authority for approval. Here’s what we know so far.

100-Metre Treetop Walkway Planned At Patna Zoo In Bihar

Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, or Patna Zoo, is one of India’s largest biological parks. It is a major attraction in Bihar and is both a zoological park and a botanical garden. The park is home to over 800 animals, including the Great One-Horned Rhinoceros, tigers, leopards, hippos and giraffes. Now, authorities are planning to introduce Bihar’s first 100-metre wooden treetop walkway, 15 feet above the ground.

According to The Times of India, a proposal has been sent to the Central Zoo Authority. Once approved, construction will begin. A detailed project report has already been prepared. In the first phase, the 100-metre-long walkway will connect two Ceylon oak trees, along with several trees in between. The project will cost around ₹2 crore, and the walkway will be 16 feet wide.

Selfie Points, Cafeteria & More Upgrades In The Pipeline

According to The Times of India, Patna Zoo is also planning to develop 15 selfie points at scenic spots. Moreover, a cafeteria serving food will be built near Gate No. 1 at a cost of ₹4.87 crore, along with two food kiosks inside the zoo. That’s not all. Many other upgrades are in the pipeline. These include a new souvenir shop, sixteen paid guides charging ₹10 per service, and a makeover for the toy train. Gates No. 1 and 2 will be rebuilt with archways, ticket counters, kiosks, cloakrooms and staff rooms.

Several animals will also be brought to Patna Zoo from Delhi and Rohtak. These include six sangai deer, four white blackbucks, four rosy pelicans, four painted storks, two green iguanas, two silver pheasants and a white tigress. This initiative is part of the CZA exchange programme. This is amazing, right? Visitors will be able to experience so much more at Patna Zoo once all these projects become a reality.
