In a post, she described the incident and stated that what started out as a disagreement over a small amount of money turned into a serious safety issue. She quickly contacted her office colleagues, who arrived at the scene to help her. The creator also alleged that several witnesses stepped in to help. She claimed the driver showed no remorse and kept threatening her even after others stepped in.
She wrote, “What followed was not just an argument. He slapped me. He grabbed and twisted my hand, hurting me. And then said, “Phir se maar ke dikhaun kya?”
Shivanii also complained about Uber’s handling of the incident. According to her, the platform first blocked her account, citing driver safety concerns, while the driver’s account was still active.
How Did Uber React To It?
As soon as the video went viral, Uber took to her post and commented on it. The company said it was deeply sorry for Shivanii’s experience and reiterated that passenger safety remains its top priority. The company stated that any form of physical harm or intimidation is unacceptable on its platform and that it strongly condemns the driver’s alleged actions.
Uber added that it had taken appropriate action in accordance with its policies, acknowledged concerns regarding the support provided during the incident, and said it is working to strengthen its response in such cases. The company also confirmed that Shivanii’s account had been reinstated and assured her of continued support as she pursues the matter with law enforcement authorities.
