Air India And Air India Express Face Off On Mumbai Airport Runway

On Tuesday night, July 7, Air India and Air India Express aircraft ended up facing each other on the Mumbai airport runway around 10 PM. This situation raised concerns about a possible runway collision. But thanks to Air Traffic Control, which stepped in at the right time and prevented the collision.

As per Hindustan Times, speaking about the incident, an Air India spokesperson revealed that the flight was scheduled to fly from Mumbai to Delhi but was stopped on the instructions of ATC. This happened because the Air India Express aircraft, which had arrived from Siliguri, was still on the runway, resulting in both aircraft facing each other.

Aircraft Returns To Parking Area

Air Traffic Control noticed the situation and quickly stepped in. Hindustan Times reported that the authorities instructed Air India to stop the take-off. The aircraft then returned to the parking area. The airline spokesperson revealed that the airline checked the aircraft as per safety rules and arranged an alternative flight plan so passengers could reach Delhi as quickly as possible.

Thankfully, no injuries or damage were reported in the incident. The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers. It said that the safety of its passengers is its priority and that it made all decisions to keep everyone safe.
