The Ram Temple in Ayodhya, one of India’s most significant religious landmarks, has officially been completed. Located on the site long believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram, the temple has been a focal point of faith and devotion for millions. The construction completion is being celebrated with the Dhwaja Rohan ceremony, where the sacred saffron flag has been hoisted atop the temple by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Hoists Saffron Flag At Ram Temple, Ayodhya

According to Hindustan Times, on Tuesday, PM Modi hoisted the saffron flag atop the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. As per reports, the Dharma Dhwaj was hoisted around noon during the Dhwaja Rohan ceremony that was attended by many. It is a 10-foot-high, 20-foot-long right-angled triangular flag, embossed with images of the Sun, the sacred ‘Om,’ and the Kovindara tree.

The ‘Sun’ on the flag symbolises brilliance, valour, sacrifice, and dedication. Additionally, hoisting the ‘dhwaja’ symbolises the triumph of ‘dharma’ (righteousness) over ‘adharma’ (unrighteousness).

The flag was placed atop the temple ‘shikhar’, which has been built in the traditional North Indian Nagara architectural style. As per the Prime Minister’s office, the Dhwaja Rohan ceremony at Ram Temple in Ayodhya took place on a day “coinciding with the Muhurat of Ram and Sita’s Vivah Pancham.”

“The date also marks the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, who meditated in Ayodhya for 48 uninterrupted hours in the 17th century,” the PMO statement further added.

All You Need To Know About The Ceremony

The ceremony rituals at the temple, before the flag hoisting, were performed by 108 Acharyas from Ayodhya, Kashi, and South India. It was all done under the guidance of Kashi scholar Ganeshwar Shastri. The ceremony also marks the completion of the construction work of the temple.

Ram Temple Ayodhya is accessible only to invited guests with QR-coded passes till 2:30 PM on November 25. It will open for people later. Ahead of the historic event at the Ram Temple, Ayodhya underwent extensive preparations. The city roads were cleaned, stop signs were installed, and sanitation work was completed. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said they are expecting around 6,000 guests at the event.

The trust further added that they will change the flag twice annually. This will happen during the spring and autumn Navratris.
